Peppermint has been increasing in popularity as an essential oil for centuries in ancient Rome and Egypt, and it's easy to see why! Several cultures have embraced this oil not only for the fresh, minty fragrance but also for the incredibly wide range of therapeutic benefits it offers. So you are probably wondering,
what is peppermint oil? Peppermint oil is derived from the leaves of the peppermint plant, which is a hybrid of watermint and spearmint first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753.
A high menthol content is just one of the many components that sets a
high-quality essential oil apart from the rest. Peppermint is commonly used in
aromatherapy by adding three to four drops of the oil to your favorite diffuser. Peppermint oil can also be taken
internally, by diluting one drop of the oil in 4 fl. oz. of liquid or
topically by applying one to two drops to the desired area. You can dilute the oil with a carrier oil, such as Fractionated Coconut oil to minimize any skin sensitivity. What if you need the oil to cover a large surface area such as the back of your neck or your shoulders? Don't worry! You can
also dilute the oil with a carrier oil or mix it with your favorite Eminence moisturizer to make it easier to spread on the skin. Need a suggestion? We recommend our extremely popular
Eminence Rosehip Whip Moisturizer! This moisturizer is deeply nourishing, hydrating, and works well with
all skin types and concerns - even sensitive skin! There are several
common uses of Peppermint oil. These include mixing one drop of Peppermint oil with one drop of Lemon oil in water for a healthy, refreshing mouth rinse. This combination is also perfectly safe to swallow and can help to alleviate occasional stomach upset. Do you often find yourself in need of a midday pick-me-up? No problem! Peppermint oil works great for that too. Simply place one drop in the palm of your hand along with one drop of Wild Orange oil and one drop of Frankincense oil. Rub your hands together and cup them over your nose, inhaling deeply (avoid contact with your eyes). Peppermint is
great for promoting healthy respiratory function and clear breathing. Need to purchase a bottle of Peppermint oil? We recommend DōTERRA Peppermint.
